What's Wrong with Dependence on Foreign Oil?

Most of the imported oil does not even come from OPEC. It comes from Canada, Mexico and Nigeria. And even OPEC countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar etc. have been bending over backwards to keep the oil flowing, buying US goods, keeping their money in American banks, allowing US to build military bases on their soil, hiring Americans at higher wages than normal etc. What else can they do?
