Has "Doctor Who" gone past its sell-by date?

Has "Doctor Who" gone past its sell-by date? Man and boy, I've been watching Doctor Who on and off for years but now I weary of its over-melodramatic overtones and staleness. The last couple of "doctors" - David Tennant and Chris Eccleston - are both brilliant actors and it's obvious they enjoy hamming it all up. The incidental music - the BBC Welsh Orchestra - is dramatic and second to none. The writer, Russell Davies has a wild and effervescent imagination although he doesn't half like writing soft and ism into his stories. And recently it's been into "celebrities" and "guest stars" - Kylie Minogue and Catherine Tate being the latest - which does nothing for it.
